Your child can attend kindergarten if they turn five years old by December 31 in the same year that they would start Kindergarten. For instance, if your child’s fifth birthday is December 31, 2026, they can start kindergarten in September 2026.

Students are assigned to schools in their catchment area. To find the schools closest to your family’s home, use the school finder. In some instances, students can attend a school outside of their catchment by requesting an intra-district school placement.

There are two registration processes: one for Canadian Students and one for Newcomer Students. Please review the criteria within each process to find out which is the right process for your child.

Required documentation:

  • Your child’s immunization documents
  • Your child’s Medicare card
  • Your child’s birth certificate
